We are currently looking for a:

Scientist Molecular Biology (PhD)

To join our Discovery department and support the development of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) to treat different brain diseases. You have strong technical skills and will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing a broad set of in vitro experiments to evaluate different properties of ASOs at the molecular and cellular level. You will report directly to the senior scientist managing the program(s) and will work with other scientists and technicians.

Your tasks include:

  • Optimizing new assays for ASO candidate screening in cell-based assays
  • Designing, planning and execution of experiments to evaluate ASO efficacy in vitro
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Presenting data regularly in internal team meetings
  • Keeping up to date with literature on RNA-modulating ASOs
  • Training and supervision of junior team members

Preferred profile:

  • Recently obtained PhD in molecular biology with preferably a background in RNA biology/RNA regulation
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, mRNA isolation/quantitation by qPCR and/or digital droplet PCR, protein quantification by ELISA, capillary immunoassay and/or western blot
  • Hands-on experience with high throughput screening, NGS data analysis and/or oligonucleotide therapeutics are a plus
  • Familiarity with brain disease models and/or primary/iPSC-derived neuronal culture would be beneficial
  • Outstanding skills in experimental design and execution, efficient assay development
  • Proactive team player who communicates easily and builds relationships
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced and dynamic biotech environment
  • A strong work ethic and highly motivated
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in English
  • Strong scientific writing and presentation skills
  • Problem-solving, creative and flexible mindset
